Residence Housing Association will be putting on the 24-Hour Service Fair on Nov. 20 and 21, starting at 6 p.m. Friday and continuing until 6 p.m. on Saturday. The event is being coordinated by Events and Activities Coordinator of the Residence Housing Association, Erika Cabatingan.
The times for service are all in one-hour increments throughout the 24 hours, so it is possible to sign up for more than one time during the fair's duration. Time slots will be given on a first come, first served basis.
There is a wide variety of projects one can take part in ranging in location from the Pacific University campus to the Forest Grove community. The program will take place in the University Center where refreshments will be provided.
Cabatingan states this is not only an opportunity for clubs and groups to publicize their name, but to also improve the city. Clubs, organizations and individuals are all asked to volunteer for projects that give back to the community in the spirit of Thanksgiving.
The program is open to the entire campus, so any groups interested (not just clubs and organizations, but friends or individuals) with an idea for a service project are welcome to participate. This year, some of the projects involve collecting canned food, working with local animal shelter and working with Dornbecker Children's Hospital. Groups are encouraged to help with any project, no matter the size. RHA hopes to benefit not only the people, but the animals and environment as well.
If interested in volunteering, email Erika Cabatingan at caba3974@pacificu.edu for more information. A link to the 24-Hour Service Fair will appear on the Pacific University Facebook page and will contain the time slots of all the assignments taking place during the project's duration. Time slots are still open, and RHA is happy to accommodate to any new groups willing to lend a hand in the project.
