"We donated food items to the Black Hawk Natural Horseman Auction, to raise funds to rebuild the damages done during the winter storm," said Bigelow. "As well as donate monthly dinners to the Essentials Health Clinic in Hillsboro for the volunteers."
The group has also partnered with Adelante Mujeres - a Forest Grove organization that aims to discuss the causes of social ills - for their Day of the Dead celebration.
"They just do a great job," said Hornberger. "Since Bethany's come they just keep getting better."
Aramark also provides the food for the Forest Grove Noon Rotary Club's annual Concours d'Elegance car show, which they do completely at cost.
"Aramark is very supportive to us," said Hornberger who also serves as the Forest Grove Noon Rotary Club's food committee chairperson. "More than half of the money that the Rotary Club makes at that event goes back to Pacific as scholarships," which Hornberger said wouldn't be possible if Aramark charged full price. "In that way they really help to support Pacific and the community."
"It's just so much easier with them doing it," Hornberger said, laughing.
With only 45 employees, Pacific's branch of Aramark is small, only 1 percent of Aramark's total employees around the globe, which - according to their corporate website - has over 240,000 workers in over 19 countries. Fortune Magazine recently named the Aramark Corporation as the most admired company in its field in a report issued in the magazine's March 16 issue.
But despite their size, the Forest Grove food service is a world leader in sustainability and providing customers with environmentally friendly options.
The Aramark corporation recently released a corporate-wide program devoted to more locally grown sustainable options called Green Thread.
"We had been doing this on our own already but hadn't wanted to toot our own horn," said Bigelow. "Then Aramark sent the word out and we were like 'duh' we'd already been doing that!"
