Pacific University has been working on an exchange partnership with York Saint John University in England.
The main focus has been on an exchange program between the two institution's film departments.
A number of Pacific media arts faculty are flying to York this month.
Stephen Pragg was talking to other faculty at YSJ and established a connection to Sports Science faculty member Nicholas Watson while he was in York last.
The Exercise Science department of Pacific has since been working on an exchange program with YSJ. Exercise Science professor Brian Jackson has been in e-mail contact with Watson about the exchange.
Jackson said he had missed the window to go to York with the other departments in October but he is still trying to arrange another time. He said that he would hopefully go to York to make arrangements around late spring or early fall 2009. The program may be ready by spring or fall 2010.
Jackson mentioned a few problems that are delaying the process but he is confident they will be resolved.
Brian said he was confident in the exchange and there is certainly interest.
As Exercise Science is one of the largest majors on campus with around 400 students in total, he said around four or five students from each year have shown interest in an exchange.
He said the combined amount of students sent on exchange would make for a great program and in return Pacific would receive a mix of English students which could offer the university diversity.
