MLK Day campus celebration

This year on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, a portion of the Forest Grove community gathered at Rogers Park and marched to the steps of Marsh Hall, singing "We Shall Overcome," "This Little Light of Mine" and "If I Had a Hammer." Their banner read, "We believe in the Dream.

Party in pajama pants

On Friday, Jan. 8, Residence Life held the annual PJ Dance Party for residents. It is a social opportunity for students to get out of their dorms, stretch their legs and enjoy themselves while meeting new people. It offers another option for students to have fun without having to go out to parties on the weekend.

MFA beneficial program

Every year, Pacific University's MFA program hosts a residency for its students. It has been held at the small town of Seaside, Ore. for the past few years. The residency is a rigorous, 10 day program which involves craft talks, lectures and readings for the MFA students.

Pacific alumnus publishes novel

Pacific University Alumni of 2006 David Snell just published his second novel, "Demon Days," which can be found in the Pacific University bookstore. The novel is co-authored by screenwriter and producer Richard Finney. The premise of Snell's novel is such: couple Sandy and Tom take a vacation but end up in a helicopter accident in which Tom is injured and has a near death experience.

Hap Hingston takes Pacific by storm

After a successful first semester including taking first place among Division II schools at the Mahaffey Invitational, Pacific Forensics hosted the annual Hap Hingston High School Invitational Tournament Jan. 8 and 9. The University Center housed an estimated 700 competitors, coaches, judges and event staff while the tournament took place.

In October 2004, I arrived in Dublin, Ireland to absorb a little Celtic culture after a few months in the Iraqi sandbox. As our bloated 747 taxied to the terminal our commanding officers shouted in vain "Two drink limit!"… Obviously, they were ignored. We had been drinking Non-Alcoholic beer for the better part of a year and no 20 year old Butter Bar Lieutenant was going stop us.

3D experience a home theatre possibility

As with every New Year there comes the possibility of hits, misses, and complete flops from the entertainment industry. What makes this year different is the exodus of 3D from the box office to the home theater. 3D technology itself isn't anything new and the idea behind it is pretty straightforward.
