Mensch Festival 2009 invades East Lawn

The second annual Mensch Festival, sponsored by the Center for Gender Equity (CGE) and the Activities and Cultural Events (ACE) Board, featured guest bands, an open mic session, and tables where students could express themselves through art of their own. The festival, whose name comes from the German word for an upright, caring, globally conscious human being, is a venue designed for the promotion of sustainability and the creation of a more responsible, culturally aware person.

An "Art-O-Mat" machine sits inside the student center on Forest Grove's Pacific University campus. The unique vending machine, one of only four in the northwest, allows art lovers to purchase cigarette-pack size works of art. The group of 20-something guys stood, hands jammed in pockets of tight fitting jeans, moppy hair hanging casually over their eyes.
