Let's talk about fairness, you and I. The Pacific Index has served this university for almost 117 years and in that time has produced hundreds of issues and thousands of articles. Not all of them have been well received by university officials or students, not all of them were particularly nice, and yes, not all of them were accurate.
As a college student who doesn't watch TV, read online articles, or, sad to say, picks up a newspaper that serves a readership beyond Forest Grove, I know very little about current events. For something to reach my ears, it has to be big news. Swine Flu? Big news.
We must say goodbye. Goodbye to the friends we've made and goodbye to the little bubble we've created for ourselves. We must move on. For most, college lasts four years. For four years there has been a goal in sight; graduation. Throwing caps up in the air, shaking the President's hand, smiling at the camera.
An Open Letter to My Colleagues: Let me start by thanking those of you who shared kind words with me about my Convocation talk on Monday the 25th. That little talk turned out to be more self-revealing than I originally intended...but its message is one that I would like to elaborate upon.
